Have you ever found a skincare product that you’re just in love with but it turns out you’ll have to sell a kidney to buy it?

It’s a head-banging situation that feels like a dead end. But before you give up, it’s worth looking for an alternative that can serve as a replacement.

In this article, we’ll do just that.

I’ll introduce you to the Biossance Squalane Vitamin C & Rose oil, which I loved, until I discovered several dupes that provide similar results, yet cost less.

Don’t get me wrong, I love this product, and the people I gifted it to also adore it. However, that’s just too expensive for me, personally.

Brace yourself and hop on this Biossance Squalane Vitamin C Rose oil dupe journey with me.

Why do people love the Biossance Squalane Vitamin C & Rose Oil?

It’s a TikTok (SkinTok) sensation and an Instagram superstar – and rightfully so.

The Biossance Squalane Vitamin C & Rose Oil is amazing when it comes to hydration, brightening, and restoring the radiant look of the skin.

The oil is packed with invaluable antioxidants – it revives dull complexions, evens out the tone, and makes the skin look more supple – just like having a filter.

The formula uses ingredients that ensure hydration, and lock moisture in the skin.

It uses an oil-soluble version of Vitamin C, which brightens the skin and helps you get rid of dark spots, and protects against free radicals that damage the skin.

Another powerful ingredient in the mix is Chios crystal oil which I knew nothing about until just recently. It moisturizes the skin and makes it look plump while helping heal blemishes and any post-acne scarring.

At the same time, the rose extract in this oil gives a natural glow to the skin and acts as an anti-inflammatory agent.

Overall, by now you can probably see why so many people, me included, love this oil.

So what’s the point of searching for a dupe?

Why look for an alternative for the Biossance Squalane Vitamin C & Rose Oil?

Although everything about the Biossance Squalane Vitamin C & Rose Oil sounds wonderful, there’s one huge drawback – it’s so expensive!

A bottle of 30ml costs around USD $72, which is steep compared to other similar products on the market.

So if you want to have a super beneficial face oil in your skin routine but don’t want to burn a hole in your pocket, let’s talk about those Biossance Vitamin C Rose oil dupes that I mentioned earlier.

Biossance Squalane Vitamin C & Rose Oil dupes

Here are a few recommendations for alternative products that are very similar to the Biossance Squalane Vitamin C Rose Oil.

Top choice: Milani Prep Brighten Rose Face Oil

Milani - cheap dupe for biossance squalane vitamin c rose oil

What is it?
My first dupe recommendation is the Milani Prep Brighten Rose Face Oil.

It’s mostly recommended for dry skin types, because of how rich it feels. The formula is a powerful mix of the following key ingredients:

  • Vitamin C – hydrates and brightens the skin, eliminating redness and evening out the skin tone. It’s a powerful agent for fighting hyperpigmentation and stimulates the production of collagen.
  • Sunflower oil – a moisturizing ingredient that falls into the category of emollients. It can reduce signs of aging by tackling fine lines and wrinkles, soothes the skin, and provides a protective barrier.
  • Apricot Kernel oil – helps with skin radiance, reduction of wrinkles and fine lines, and enhances the skin tone. It’s also a powerful antiseptic, antibacterial, and antioxidant.
  • Sweet Almond oil – hydrates the skin, helps fight acne breakouts and protects against sun damage.
  • Crambe Abyssinica oil – soothes and calms the skin, and helps reduce redness and irritation, especially on sensitive skin. Strengthens the natural protective barrier of the skin, and is a potent moisturizer.
  • Fatty acids – this oil is rich in several beneficial fatty acids, which help restore the skin’s healthy appearance.

Overview:
It’s completely vegan and cruelty-free. The formula is nice enough to be used on the hair and body alike, and the oil doesn’t leave a greasy layer on top of your skin.

Where this solution differs most from the Biossance Squalane Vitamin C & Rose oil is in pricing.

The product only costs $13.00 for 30ml, making it much more affordable.

What we like:
The cute and stylish pink bottle is definitely a selling point for me. But this is not the only reason why it’s on this list, I promise.

I loved the weightless texture and the fact that it’s instantly absorbed by the skin. I put a few drops before makeup application on the days when I go for a more bare-faced look – it gives the best natural-looking shine.

You only need a few drops for your entire face, so a bottle of this lasts at least half a year. In addition, it has a nice, unobtrusive scent that I appreciate especially in the evenings.

What to have in mind:
It’s worth repeating that the product is designed for dry skin. People with oily-prone skin should avoid this, as it will give them a shine that they won’t appreciate.

DIY Bundle 1: The Ordinary Squalane + Rosehip Oil + Vitamin C Powder

The Ordinary bundle - cheaper alternative to Biossance squalane vitamin C and rosehip oil

Next up, I did a little hack.

I combined three of my favorite The Ordinary products to create my own alternative of the Biossance Squalane Vitamin C & Rose oil.

The bundle consists of pure squalene oil, rosehip seed oil, and L-ascorbic acid powder.

Let’s see what this bundle has to offer:

  • The Ordinary 100% L-Ascorbic Acid Powder – this is a high-concentration Vitamin C in the form of a finely milled powder that you can add to many of your skincare products. There’s a small measuring in the box that allows you to measure the amount of powder used.
  • The Ordinary Plant-Derived Squalane Oil – a powerful emollient, squalane offers outstanding hydration for the skin and is non-comedogenic. It’s suitable for all skin types.
  • The Ordinary Organic Cold-Pressed Rosehip Seed Oil – the final component in the mix is my all-time favorite TO product. This oil is rich in linoleic acid and pro-vitamin A. It supports skin health and prevents signs of photo-aging. It also contains high levels of omega fatty acids, which balance out the skin’s natural oil production.

What I love about creating your own dupe for the Biossance oil is the fact that all three products are with the highest concentration of their ingredients, while you have no idea how much vitamin C or rosehip oil there is in the Biossance oil.

How to use:
Use a drop or two of rosehip oil, a drop or two of squalane, and a scoop of Vitamin C booster powder. Mix the ingredients together until you get an even consistency and texture and apply directly to the skin.

I recommend mixing small amounts before application as opposed to throwing everything in a jar, for example, as the latter can destroy the preservative qualities of the individual ingredients, and you don’t know what effect it will have on your skin.

What we like:
I have to admit that the results I saw were better than those of the Biossance Squalane Vitamin C & Rose oil. Probably because of the higher concentration of vitamin C, I notice that acne scars fade out quicker.

Because these are essentially three different products, you can choose how much of the Vitamin C powder you want to use in the mix. Vitamin C can sometimes be irritating for people with sensitive skin. But you’re able to control how much of the ingredients you add to the mix, so you can effectively prevent any discomfort and excess irritation.

In addition, by getting this bundle you’ll have three separate, powerful products at your fingertips. You can use them separately to enhance your skincare routine or other products that you have. For example, you can use the Vitamin C booster powder with other serums that you have, or with your moisturizer.

The biggest advantage of this bundle is the price. The three products together cost less than $50, which is highly appreciated.

What to have in mind:
The mixture of these products will take more time to sink into your skin because the rosehip oil here is thicker.

DIY Bundle 2: Good Molecules Squalane + Rosehip Oil + Vitamin C Booster Powder

Good Molecules - Biossance Squalane Rose Oil Dupe

My final dupe recommendation is another bundle, this time crafted with products from Good Molecules. It contains the exact same products as The Ordinary, but considering that it’s a different brand, there are some differences in experience, quality, and price.

  • Good Molecules Cold Pressed Rosehip Seed Oil
  • Good Molecules Squalane Oil
  • Good Molecules Vitamin C Booster Powder

How to use:
Again, you need to pre-mix a couple of drops from each oil with a small amount of powder until you get an even consistency. Apply on your face and let it sink into your skin.

What we like:
The experience I had with this bundle is nearly the same as the one from The Ordinary. Perhaps the main advantage here is that the rosehip oil by Good Molecules is lighter, meaning that it’s easily absorbed by the skin, without taking too much time.

In terms of pricing, the price for the three products is again budget-friendly and less than $30.

What to have in mind:
It’s worth noting that the vitamin C powder is not as finely milled as the one I tested from The Ordinary.

This could make the mixing process a bit more difficult, but I wouldn’t say it’s something to worry about too much.

Just like with The Ordinary, you could get tired of having to mix three different products each time you want to use them. However, considering the price difference with the Biossance Squalane Vitamin C Rose oil, I’d say it’s worth it.

Wrapping up
