Confession time: when I wrote my SkinStore review, I ended up on a little shopping spree and bought myself the SkinCeuticals A.G.E. Eye Cream Complex.

I heard so much great stuff about it on Reddit, so I wanted to see what the fuss was all about.

This eye cream is crazy-expensive, so I wondered as you might do, if it’s worth the money.

Here’s what I found.

Hop on my SkinCeuticals A.G.E. Eye Complex review!

What is SkinCeuticals A.G.E. Eye Cream Complex?

Essentially, SkinCeuticals A.G.E. Eye Cream Complex is an anti-aging eye cream with a plethora of boasted benefits for your under-eye area.

It’s marketed as an anti-aging treatment for eyes that brightens the skin underneath, improves dark circles, and decreases puffiness in the area.

Despite its high price, the product has a cult following online, so you’ll see a lot of reviewers rave about this eye cream.

Features

  • Fragrance- and essential oil-free
  • Alcohol-free
  • Highly moisturizing
  • Fights appearance of crow’s feet
  • Improves dark circles
  • TSA-approved
  • With clinically proven results, as are most SkinCeuticals products.

What does Age Eye Complex do?

The A.G.E. Complex is formulated with optical diffusers of light which work to visibly lighten the undereye area upon application and while working to treat dark circles long-term. It’s supposed to minimize the signs of aging and reduce the wrinkles in your eye area with consistent use.
It’s a great solution for aged or aging skin.

SkinCeuticals A.G.E. Eye Cream Complex ingredients

At first glance, and this is the main criticism about the product online, the ingredient list doesn’t look that impressive. However, if you know anything about skincare formulation, then you surely are aware that there’s more to a product than its ingredients.

INCI:

Aqua / Water / Eau, Glycerin, Dimethicone, Isohexadecane, Paraffin, Propylene Glycol, Silica, Polyglyceryl-4 Isostearate, Cetyl Peg/ppg-10/1 Dimethicone, Hexyl Laurate, Nylon-12, Hydroxypropyl Tetrahydropyrantriol, Methylsilanol/silicate Crosspolymer, Polyethylene, Ascorbyl Glucoside, Caprylic/capric Triglyceride, Octyldodecanol, Phenoxyethanol, Tocopheryl Acetate, Ammonium Polyacryloyldimethyl Taurate, Peg-6 Isostearate, Triethanolamine, Sodium Citrate, Methylparaben, Chlorphenesin, Caffeine, Ci 77891 / Titanium Dioxide, Ethylparaben, Menthoxypropanediol, Sorbitol, Vaccinium Myrtillus Fruit Extract, Steareth-20, Sodium Phytate, Hesperidin Methyl Chalcone, Hesperetin Laurate, Chlorhexidine Digluconate, Aluminum Hydroxide, N-hydroxysuccinimide, Alcohol, Potassium Sorbate, Dipeptide-2, Bht, Citric Acid, Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7, Pentaerythrityl Tetra-di-t-butyl Hydroxyhydrocinnamate, Palmitoyl Tripeptide-1, Chrysin, Biotin

Main ingredients:

  • Glycerin is a well-known and widely used moisturizer and humectant, and having it that high in the ingredients list shows that the product is very moisturizing. It’s combined with a few thickeners, which make the A.G.E Complex cream feel rich.
  • Hydroxypropyl Tetrahydropyrantriol is supposed to boost the production of important skin building blocks, which get diminished as we age. Its use results in firmer, well-hydrated skin.
  • Ascorbil Glucoside is the main culprit behind the brightening effect (the long-term one) that this cream has under your eyes. It’s a stable vitamin C derivative, so it’s a potent antioxidant.
  • Caffeine is also known to have antioxidant properties and it’s widely used in eye creams to help with blood vessel constriction and lightening under-eye circles.
  • There are also a bunch of peptides in the mix, with each having its specific contribution to overall well-aging skin. These peptides work synergistically to fight undereye bags, slow collagen degradation, and improve firmness and skin tone.

Packaging, amount of product, how long it lasts

The 2.82 oz (15ml) A.G.E. Eye Complex comes in a small jar with a screw-on lid.

As it’s thick and spreadable, it can last you for anywhere between a month and two months, depending on how often you apply it — I like to use it only as a night treatment, so my jar lasted me for two whole months.

Texture and experience

As already mentioned, the A.G.E. Eye Complex is a super thick, luxurious feeling cream that spreads under your eyes like a charm.

It has no scent, natural or artificial, so sensitive skin types can rest assured that nothing in this product will irritate them.

It hydrates the eye area instantly, and it has tiny little light particles that bounce off the light from your undereye bags — no large glitters though!

A small amount is all you need for both your eyes and if you apply this in the evening, you’ll feel it on your skin the next morning — that’s how great the formulation is at providing a pampering cushion for your undereye area.

How do you use SkinCeuticals Age Eye Complex?

So, how should you use SkinCeuticals Age eye cream to get the best results?

Let’s see what SkinCeuticals themselves have to say about that:

It’s enough to apply the A.G.E Eye Complex every evening in a very thin layer underneath your eyes with your bare fingers. You don’t need to use a spatula, as it can pick up too much product and result in you wasting some. Apply it consistently if you want to see the best before and after results.

Who is this for

SkinCeuticals A.G.E Eye Complex is great for anyone who can afford the price tag and loves a good, thick, and luxurious feeling eye cream with a plethora of skin benefits specially formulated for under your eyes.

Who is this NOT for

People who are prone to forming milia, although I don’t see a lot of clogging ingredients — you better skip this one just in case.

Also, if your bank account can’t handle this purchase, there are several alternatives I’m sharing with you below.

SkinCeuticals A.G.E Eye Complex reviews

Turning to user reviews, I noticed that the majority of feedback is positive.

Most concerns were expressed about the price point, which is highly subjective, and very high for an eye cream!

Sure, you don’t need to buy this eye cream if you don’t have the money for it — just opt for some of the alternatives I’ve suggested below.

But if you’re open to trying a new eye treatment and you don’t mind the price tag, SkinCeuticals products are known for their loyal customers and extensively tested products, so this is definitely a trusted option.

SkinCeuticals A.G.E Eye Complex before and after

SkinCeuticals A.G.E Complex before and after

From the before and after photos of SkinCeuticals A.G.E Eye Complex we can see a difference in wrinkle depth and severity. However, this example doesn’t show any results for puffy eyes or undereye dark circles.

My A.G.E Eye Complex review

As I’ve mentioned already, I’ve used my jar of SkinCeuticals A.G.E Eye Cream Complex for about two months, each evening, before it ran out.

Immediately upon application, I experienced my undereye skin much more hydrated and protected. I saw fine lines diminishing in about a week of consistent use, but I don’t have anything too severe yet, because I’m in my 30s.

Luckily, I have no eye bags or severe dark circles either, so I can’t evaluate this facet of the product’s performance.

All in all, I find this eye cream to be well moisturizing and hydrating for my skin, and a true pleasure to apply.

Does Age Eye Complex work? The verdict

As mentioned, SkinCeuticals is one of the rare beauty companies that actually test their final products to see if they comply with marketing statements.

This is probably why the brand is so expensive in the first place, as testing is quite costly.

So, as we’ve seen from the official before and after photos, SkinCeuticals A.G.E Eye Complex truly works to fight the signs of aging around the eyes.

SkinCeuticals A.G.E Eye Complex review for dark circles

Unfortunately, the before and after of A.G.E Eye Complex does not show dark circles and potential changes in their appearance, and as I don’t have prominent dark circles myself, I can’t confirm that this product is very effective against undereye darkness.

The two ingredients that can help with dark circles in this product are vitamin C and caffeine.

SkinCeuticals A.G.E Eye Complex review for wrinkles

The A.G.E Eye Complex shows a reduction in crow’s feet wrinkles and is a potent solution against skin aging in your eye area. There are multiple peptides, hydrating ingredients, and the inclusion of vitamin C also helps to smooth out any fine lines and restore collagen production.

Price and availability

A jar of this goodie costs around $105 and is available from many online and offline sellers.

Now, for the best part — the cheaper alternatives of SkinCeuticals A.G.E Eye Complex — I have a rich selection of different anti-aging eye creams at different prices. I’ve sourced these “dupes” from TikTok, Reddit, and by testing out products myself.

A great SkinCeuticals A.G.E. Eye Complex dupe for dark circles is the Kiehls Super Multi-Corrective Eye Zone Treatment. Other worthy eye treatments include the Algenist Triple Algae Eye Renewal Balm and Shiseido Benefiance Wrinkle Smoothing Eye Cream.
