When it comes to choosing the right sunscreen, there’s so much to consider.
Will it leave behind a white cast? Is it too oily? Can you wear it with makeup?
Well, I personally discovered the perfect solution a few years ago – the Krave Beauty Beet Shield Sunscreen.
I fell in love so hard!
And I know that this is just a skincare product but the rest of you, sunscreen addicts, will probably agree that it’s too hard to find the one.
For those of you familiar with the brand, you’ll probably know that their sunscreen is no longer available on the market (you’ll find out why in a bit).
However, the good news is that there are plenty of Krave Beet Shield dupes that you can give a go.
In this article, I’ve gone through some of the best ones.
Let’s get to it!
Why do people love the Krave Beauty Beet Shield Sunscreen?
When it comes to sunscreen, one of the all-time favorites of many is the Krave Beauty Beet Shield.
If you do some research and read what people have to say, you’ll quickly realize that they simply love the brand.
Why?
Well, for starters, it’s created by a famous YouTuber – Liah Yoo – who is an avid skincare enthusiast, to put it mildly.
But fame is not all that makes the products outstanding.
The brand comes with an ethos that you simply can’t look over, promoting environmental awareness and creating an inclusive community in the skincare world. The standard beauty conventions are not accepted. Instead, a new approach to beauty and skincare products is promoted.
When it comes to this product specifically, it’s described by many as a holy grail in the sunscreen category (I certainly agree). When using it, you don’t have to worry about skin irritation, inflammations, itchy eyes, or any related problems. The product is light and moisturizing, has some incredible ingredients and was, overall, a staple in many skincare routines.
What happened to Krave Beauty’s Beet The Sun & The Beet Shield Sunscreens?
Unfortunately, 2021 was not a good year for the brand.
Beet The Sun products were discontinued from all markets following a scandal related to skincare product testing in Korea. Some of Korea’s manufacturers and independent testing labs provided misleading information and inaccurate results that did not present the accurate SPF results from products.
This affected several skincare companies based in Korea, Krave among them.
As a result, Krave Beauty and its leader, Liah Yoo, decided to take things into their own hands and partnered with U.S. labs to double-check the quality of the sunscreen ingredients put in their products.
The results they got were not good and the conclusion was that the quality does not match the standards that the brand was striving for.
Sadly, if you haven’t tried the Krave Beauty Beet Shield Sunscreen, it’s too late, as the product was discontinued. However, there are some great dupes that I can recommend.

The 7 Best Beet Shield Dupes
Top choice: HYGGEE – Vegan Sun Cream
What is it?
This vegan sunscreen is our favorite Krave Beet Shield dupe. It’s hypoallergenic and packed with an SPF 50 PA++++, guaranteeing outstanding sun protection. It contains 5 types of chemical UV filters and is perfect choice for people with combination skin.
Benefits:
The product is infused with beetroot extract and Chlorella Vulgaris extract. These ingredients help retain the skin’s plumpness and hydration, and help with collagen synthesis. As a result, you’ll feel moisturized and protected all at once, with no need to apply a moisturizer.
What we like (pros)
A core benefit I noticed when trying HYGGEE’s Vegan Sun Cream is the essence-like consistency.
It’s absorbed very quickly by the skin and leaves no traces behind. You won’t feel oily either, which is definitely something I look for in sunscreen products.
In short, what you get is perfect protection with no white cast, easy absorption, light feeling, and durability. It’s a perfect product to use underneath makeup as a primer.
It comes with zero fragrance and is a gentle sunscreen suitable for anyone.
What to have in mind (cons)
When compared to Krave’s sunscreen, HYGGEE’s Vegan Sun Cream contains more alcohol-based ingredients.
This could be a problem for people with extremely dry skin as it can dehydrate it further, and people with sensitive skin should definitely patch test before applying it generously to their face.
It’s also not ideal for covering inflamed areas of skin, as it will exacerbate the problem further.

Rohto Mentholatum – Skin Aqua UV Super Moisture Essence Gold SPF 50+ PA++++
What is it?
If you’re looking for a clear, waterproof sunscreen, this is your top choice.
It’s extremely hydrating, oil-free, and comes with an SPF50+ PA++++.
It’s a perfect choice for dark skin tones and a perfect fit for normal or dry skin types.
This sunscreen is free from fragrance, making it preferable for people who are looking for gentler products.
Benefits:
Skin Aqua UV Super Moisture Essence Gold is packed with hydrolyzed collagen, arginine (an amino acid), and hyaluronic acid.
These key ingredients work to leave your skin feeling fresh, hydrated, and healthy – not just protected from the sun rays. It’s an extremely lightweight product that won’t cause any acne or skin irritation.
What we like (pros)
This sunscreen is truly invisible.
It gives a nice dewy look to the skin but does not result in too much oiliness.
It’s also reef safe and created with attention to the environment.
It comes with a range of skin-strengthening properties and keeps the skin protected from harmful UV rays. Moreover, it also acts as a shield against dirt and dust due to the seal it creates on top of your skin.
I love the fact that it’s resistant to water, which makes it the perfect choice for the summer when the skin is exposed to sweating and hopefully – some refreshing beach waves.
You can comfortably wear it under makeup as it plays well with other products and does not peel.
What to have in mind (cons)
We haven’t noticed any so far.

Missha All Around Safe Block Soft Finish Sun Milk EX SPF50+/PA+++
What is it?
The Missha All Around Safe Block Soft Finish Sun Milk EX SPF50+/PA+++ comes with a double UV blocking system and offers resistance to water and sweat.
You can count on this product all day long as it’s extremely durable.
It offers a smooth base as a result of the silky porous powder and can help correct redness and restore the natural tone of the skin. It’s a perfect choice for oily and sensitive skin.
Benefits:
This Beet Shield dupe is a mineral-based sunscreen, which is considered much safer in comparison to chemical-based products. It doesn’t contain any Oxybenzone, Avobenzone, Octinoxate, Homosalate, Octisalate, Octocrylene, or Primate O.
What we like (pros)
What I truly loved about this product is the nice matte finish that it gives.
It can be used as a mattifying primer too, especially if you have oily skin.
The fact that it doesn’t contain any silicones also means that you’re safe from acne bursts and pimples.
What to have in mind (cons)
This product is not a suitable fit for dry skin as it will not provide sufficient moisture. This can make your skin look crumbly and potentially lead to itching.
Some users also share that it left behind a white cast that stays on for hours, meaning that it’s not ideal for dark skin tones.

ISEHAN – Kiss Me Mommy UV Aqua Milk SPF 50+ PA++++
What is it?
This is a unique product as it’s a kid-friendly sunscreen.
It relies on clean ingredients (80% to be exact) to work its magic. The ISEHAN – Kiss Me Mommy UV Aqua Milk SPF 50+ PA++++ is a top choice for sensitive skin or acne-prone skin as it’s extremely gentle and non-aggressive.
It’s also a waterproof product that will make your skin look fresh and will protect it well even when sweating.
The product is hypoallergenic.
Benefits:
Infused with aloe vera, strawberry, acerola, jojoba oil, ceramides, collagen, and hyaluronic acid, this sunscreen is on top of the ladder for anyone looking for protection that also treats the skin with goodness.
These ingredients soothe the skin, offer outstanding moisturizing properties, protect against skin aging, and more.
The sunscreen can even help lighten skin blemishes.
What we like (pros)
Some of the key benefits (especially for people looking for a clean and harmless skincare product) are that it doesn’t have any fragrance, doesn’t contain colorings, preservatives, or mineral oils, and it’s completely alcohol-free.
I love the fact that it’s very easy to remove with a normal cleanser and doesn’t leave behind any stains or traces on the skin or clothes.
It won’t dry out your skin and provides all the protection you can expect. Oh, and it’s not sticky, which is certainly a factor that we shouldn’t neglect.
What to have in mind (cons)
If you have very dry skin, the product could make your skin look a bit shiny. However, you can easily fix this with powder or makeup.

CANMAKE Mermaid Skin Gel UV
What is it?
This Beet Shield dupe sunscreen offers a delicate moisturizing effect and comes with an SPF 50+ / PA++++.
The consistency is a smooth gel. It doesn’t come with the typical stickiness of a sunscreen product and doesn’t have any roughness to it either.
I’d describe it as a light and refreshing gel-cream.
You can use it as a makeup base and can rely on its powerful sun protection properties.
It contains nearly 90% beautifying ingredients and comes in a cool tube that is easy to carry around. It’s a perfect product for combination skin and sensitive skin.
Benefits:
Infused with jojoba, Prunus Yedoensis leaf extract, Spiraea Ulmaria flower extract, Bilberry leaf extract, Cynara Scolymus (Artichoke) leaf extract, silica, Morus Alba root extract, and Adlay seed extract, the product has a lot to offer.
It has antioxidant properties, hydrates, boosts skin strength, and rejuvenates.
What we like (pros)
This Krave Beauty Beet Shield dupe is definitely a product that is easy to apply.
It offers a perfect level of hydration and lasts long under makeup without pilling.
It’s an affordable solution that offers a great price to quality ratio. After using it, you’ll notice a nice dewy touch and glowing skin.
Unlike other sunscreens, this product won’t make your eyes itch or hurt. It’s very gentle and lightweight and has amazing consistency. Plus, you won’t see any white cast.
What to have in mind (cons)
When applied by people with oily skin, the sunscreen could leave behind a slight oiliness that could be a bit disturbing for some users.
Some people have had problems with the package and share that the product came within an unsealed box. I personally haven’t had such an experience but I think it’s important to share it with you.

ROUND LAB Birch Juice Moisturizing Sun Cream
What is it?
The ROUND LAB Birch Juice Moisturizing Sun Cream SPF50+ PA++++ is a highly moisturizing sunscreen that offers full skin protection against photoaging and harmful external factors such as pollen and dust.
It absorbs extremely quickly without leaving a white cast. It’s a perfect choice for dry skin as it can replenish and hydrate it well.
The sunscreen is also suitable for skin that is irritated quickly and is highly sensitive.
Benefits:
One of the best sunscreen options that will quench dry skin, hands down. I love it for winter days, as it offers the extra hydration that I’m looking for at that time of year.
Despite its moisturizing abilities, the cream is non-greasy and non-sticky. When applied, you feel a cooling, soothing sensation which I appreciate after sunburn.
The product contains niacinamide and ascorbic acid – both are hero ingredients for handling pigmentation problems, with vitamin C actually boosting the sunscreen abilities in that sense.
But I’m not surprised, as a classic Korean skincare product, it is enriched with many beneficial ingredients that will not only protect the skin from sun damage but will also provide additional benefits.
What we like (pros)
You can wear this sunscreen with or without makeup without having to worry about any pilling.
The skin soaks it up almost instantly, making it a perfect fit for people with dynamic lifestyles and quick skincare routines such as myself.
It’s very lightweight and doesn’t feel heavy on the skin and we truly appreciate all the amazing ingredients put into this product.
What to have in mind (cons)
It’s a bit more expensive than most sunscreen products on the market but offers a good value for its money.

Paula’s Choice Ultra-Light Daily Hydrating Fluid SPF 30+
What is it?
Last but not least, one of my all-time favorite daily sunscreens is Paula’s Choice Ultra-Light Daily Hydrating Fluid SPF 30+.
This amazing fluid won’t make your face shine and will minimize your pores.
It works towards achieving a nice, clear complexion of the skin while protecting it from the harmful effects of UV rays. The product is ideal for people with oily skin and clogged pores and for those with normal skin.
Benefits:
It comes packed with natural, plant-derived antioxidants and hydrating agents that will smooth and calm the skin. It will eliminate all dryness and flaking, making your skin look perfectly hydrated.
It’s also infused with green tea, Goji fruit extract, grape seed oil, black elderberry, oat bran extract, pomegranate extract, and hydrogenated lecithin.
What we like (pros)
The product will truly leave your skin looking smooth and healthy. The ingredients it contains work in the background to clear the pores and help fight acne, all the while protecting from the sun.
What I love most about this product is the fact that it’s packed with natural ingredients and extracts, that help rejuvenate the complexion and truly make my skin look more plump, young, and fresh.
What to have in mind (cons)
The mattifying effect of this product may not be seen by all users, depending on the level of oiliness of the skin. It could be a bit shinier but this is an easy fix with some makeup and powder.
